Whether you're interested in covering news and sport, producing live shows, creating short films or just messing around on camera - there's something for everyone

You'll have the opportunity to try all sorts of roles throughout the year, both on screen and behind camera, to find your perfect fit

  • Do I need any prior experience?
    Absolutely not! We offer regular training sessions to get you up to speed with all of our equipment
  • Do I need to be a University of Leeds student?
    You do not! Membership is open to any Leeds-based student - whether you're at Uni of, Beckett, Leeds Arts, Leeds Conservatoire or Trinity Those wishing to join from outside the University of Leeds can purchase a participant membership via LUU Engage for no extra cost
  • Do I need to be a media student?
    Not at all - our members come from a range of courses, including History, Computer Science, English, Engineering and Theatre Studies
  • Can LSTV help me develop a career in media?
    The skills you gain at LSTV can take you far! Our alumni have gone on to work for some of the UK's biggest media companies, including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky and IMG We've even produced some massive names - Alice Levine, James Cooper and Jamie Morton, co-hosts of the award-winning podcast My Dad Wrote A Porno, first met as LSTV members. Emma Mackey, star of Sex Education and Barbie, even appeared in our 2016 short film Badger_Lane! Current members have the opportunity to network with our incredible alumni at talks throughout the year and at our annual Alumni Weekend, held in November
  • How much time are members expected to commit to LSTV?
    We follow no regular schedule at LSTV, meaning it's your choice how and when you get involved! You can sign up to crew another member's project, or choose to lead your own
  • Where is the LSTV studio?
    Our studio is on the first floor of Leeds University Union, LS2 9JZ. Feel free to drop by to get to know our committee or ask any burning questions!
  • Is LSTV a sociable society?
    We run all sorts of regular events throughout the year - from drinking socials and nights out to non-drinking activities. There is never any pressure to drink at an LSTV event!
